So in May I bought one (and only one) of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s $20 Star Spangled Sweepstakes tickets.

And last Saturday, I had it scanned at a convenience store because I’m paranoid about stuff like that and don’t trust myself – so I like to have my tickets checked.

The guy behind the counter scanned it, checked the ticket, called his brother (I’m assuming) over, they checked a number sheet hanging behind the register and handed me a “File Claim” ticket.

So I’ve been planning to bring it to Lottery Headquarters to see what – if anything – I won.

Well tonight on the news they ran a story about how people have been getting claim tickets accidentally and it doesn’t really mean your ticket is a winner.

I will probably still bring it in, but it’s most likely worthless.

Figures huh? I know the horrible odds of winning but, for a few days it was nice to think that getting out of debt and into significant wealth would be that easy.

Guess I have to keep plugging away. ; )
